This guide explains Devicie's automation tool, designed to streamline customers' Intune environment management and ensure its security and stability. Here's a quick overview of its functionalities:
- Automated Management: The tool automates tasks like reading, editing, and creating configurations (artifacts) within your tenant using a secure protocol.
- Regular Monitoring: It runs every 3 hours to maintain your environment's up-to-date status.
- Self-Healing Functionality: In case of unauthorized changes (intentional or accidental), the automation automatically reverts settings to your desired configuration.
- Focused Assistance: While it doesn't manage every Intune setting yet, Devicie can still assist you with specific configurations and building custom applications tailored to your needs.
While this automation is helpful, it can't manage every single setting in Intune. We can still assist you with:
- Specific configurations: We might be able to help you with configurations that fall outside the automation's scope.
- Custom applications: Need a unique application for your tenant? We can build custom packages for you.
The following sections provide a detailed breakdown to help you identify settings managed by the automation and those you can modify yourself.
How to Identify Managed vs. Changeable Settings
Wondering if a setting, application, or assignment is handled by our automation? Here's a breakdown to help you figure it out:
Configuration Profiles:
- Look for a GUID (a unique code) in the description of the profile.
If there's a GUID, it's automated by us. Any changes you make will be reversed within 3 hours. - Important: If you delete a managed profile, it won't be automatically uploaded again.
Applications:
Back catalog applications: These are uploads and assignments handled by our automation.
- Check the Notes section in the application properties. If it has a GUID, it's back catalog and managed.
Bespoke applications: Custom-built apps for your specific needs.
- We don't manage these automatically, so updates and assignments won't be reversed.
Intune and Winget applications: Not managed by our automation.
Other Settings:
- Autopilot Profiles: Not yet managed through automation.
- ESP (Enrollment Status Page):
- If you created an ESP, the applications within it (including future updates) are managed by us.
- Customer-created ESPs are not supported.
- Update rings: You can make changes to these, but they won't be automatically reversed.
- Scripts: Not managed by our automation.
- Anything else not listed here: Also not managed by Devicie's automation.
In short:
Look for a GUID in descriptions or notes to identify what's automated.
Changes to automated settings will be reversed within 3 hours.
We can still help you with non-automated settings, but they won't be automatically reversed.
