How to deploy Microsoft 365 Copilot on Windows devices?

Overview

Microsoft released Microsoft 365 Copilot in replacement of Copilot that came with Windows 11 which has been announced The Microsoft 365 app transition to the Microsoft 365 Copilot app.

Microsoft 365 Copilot reused a deprecated AppxPackage named "Microsoft.MicrosoftOfficeHub" which was also named "Microsoft 365 (Office)".

Both Microsoft 365 (Office) and Microsoft 365 Copilot use the same package identifier: 9WZDNCRD29V9.

 

Note: Ensure that you do not have "Microsoft 365 (Office)" set to Uninstall on 'All Users" in your environment, or else when deploying "Microsoft 365 Copilot" from Microsoft Intune it will disappear. Please delete this app if you have this in your environment.

How to uninstall Copilot

  1. Sign into the Microsoft Intune portal.
  2. Choose Apps then select Platforms: Windows
  3. Select Create then select App type: Microsoft Store app (new)
  4. Search for 9NHT9RB2F4HD (or Microsoft Copilot), then click Search
  5. Select Install behaviour either System or User.
  6. Set assignments as "Uninstall" targeting "All Users" or "All Devices", then select Next then select Create.

How to install Microsoft 365 Copilot

  1. Sign into the Microsoft Intune portal.
  2. Choose Apps then select Platforms: Windows
  3. Select Create then select App type: Microsoft Store app (new)
  4. Search for 9WZDNCRD29V9 (or Microsoft 365 Copilot) then select Search.
  5. Select Install behaviour either System or User.
  6. Set assignments as "Required" targeting "All Users" or "All Devices", then select Next then select Create.

Final results

Microsoft 365 Copilot will appear under "Recommended" or under All apps then under category M

 

How to view logs

Go to Event Viewer then expand Applications and Services Logs then expand Microsoft then expand Windows then expand AppxDeployment-Server then double click on Microsoft-Windows-AppXDeploymentServer/Operational
